I accidentally stumbled upon this easy cleaning method for RV rims and chrome side mirrors. It happened after not being able to remove hard water spots and heavy oxidation on a pair of RV sideview mirrors. On many RVs, these sideview mirrors get dirty rapidly. They get peppered with bugs, rocks and harmful materials as a result of traveling at high speeds. That simply destroys the nice sheen.

MATERIALS NEEDED

1. Power Drill.
2. Buffer attachment for a drill.
3. Microfiber towels.
4. Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze professional swirl remover.
5. Bucket of soap water and scrubber brush/ cleaning wipes.

THE PROCESS:

Step 1. Start by cleaning rims or the back of your chrome mirrors with soap and water, or cleaning wipes to remove the majority of the dirt and road grime.

Step 2. Apply a small amount of Meguire’s swirl remover to either a buffing pad or towel and rub in a 2×2 inch square for a couple seconds

Step 3. Using a power drill and a buffer attachment slowly buff out a small area at a high drill speed. Keep working in small sections until the whole rim or back of the chrome mirror has been polished.

Step 4. After completely buffing out the area, remove any residue with a microfiber towel or rag.

Step 5. Sit back and enjoy your shinny new rims or chrome backed mirrors. At least they’ll look like new. And don’t be surprised if people start asking who details your rims.
