MDC XT12HR Off-Grid Extreme
When it comes to off-road or off-grid travel trailers, few pack as much punch as the 2025 MDC XT12HR Off-Grid Extreme. This rugged 12-foot camper is perfect for couples who want to escape the everyday and camp off-grid in comfort for longer. With serious upgrades for the new 2025 model, this is a trailer that should be on your radar.
Starting from the ground up, the XT12HR is built on a galvanized steel frame. MDC has been building these frames for years and are extremely confident in the durability of their frames, so confident that they offer a lifetime warranty on their steel frames. Equipped with the Cruisemaster DO35 articulating hitch, you’ll get better towing on uneven ground, allowing your trailer the necessary flex in off-road conditions. Paired with X-TRACK® independent coil spring suspension and 16″ alloy wheels wrapped in Goodride mud-terrain tires, this trailer is ready for any trail.
This XT12HR has 400 amp-hours of Renogy lithium batteries, 350 watts of solar, and is controlled through a smart Renogy battery management system. Whether you’re boondocking in the desert or parked deep in the forest, this trailer can keep your lights on, your fridge running, and run your A/C off-grid. And with Renogy ONE Core, you can monitor your entire power system right from your phone.
Step inside the MDC XT12HR and you’ll feel right at home. Designed intentionally for two, the interior offers a plush Olympic queen-size mattress, a dinette with seating for three, and a removable lagoon table to open up the space when needed. At the bedside, you’ll find USB ports, dimmable reading lights, and dual windows to enjoy the view. Despite its compact size, the XT12HR includes a full wet bath with a Thetford cassette toilet and a hot shower, along with a surprising amount of storage—from overhead cabinetry to a tall wardrobe for hanging clothes. This trailer is also equipped with Truma appliances throughout, including the Aventa Eco air conditioner, AquaGo Comfort Plus instant water heater, and the VarioHeat ducted furnace. Finished with oak-look countertops and sleek matte-black fixtures, this trailer blends style, function, and comfort in a compact space.
The exterior slide-out kitchen features a 3-burner stainless steel stove, sink with hot and cold water, storage racks, and prep tables. We’ve used these burners on countless trips and they are hands down the best burners we’ve ever used. We love these outdoor kitchens! And it’s all under the shade of a motorized electric awning, so you can cook and relax outside rain or shine. And if you need a bit more privacy? The optional annex provides additional protected space for cooking or hanging out.
